Guiding you away from burnout and into your quiet life.
You might be struggling with the fog of stress and in search of the proper emotional regulation of it.
Let’s go over some ways you can use feminine/calming energy activities to unwind from the heightened emotions.
1. Social Media/Cycle of News Limitations for Cortisol Spikes.
Put the Phone Down. I know it’s hard. Replace it with calming Youtube Videos if you must or head to your nearest bookstore or library and pickup an enthralling adventure or mystery book that you can enjoy with a cup of coffee or evening tea.
My favorite being Indoora’s World youtube channel. I feel like I’m in a Jane Austen novel when I watch her videos. Below is her video on cultivating habits that encourage true inner peace. Also I might consider going back to type writing, drinking tea as well and making my own bread.
The biggest farce is that you have to be productive constantly to gain a few steps ahead of the rest of the pack.
Think about what is that will truly make me happy and bring you a sense of peace or wonder. You work so hard so you can enjoy the quiet moments. Are you enjoying those quiet moments?
So enjoy that book, listen to a video for some reflection and feed your cozy soul. Put on some smooth lofi music or dark academia music if you’re feeling more of a Hogwarts broody mood. 🙂
2. Play Adventure Cozy PC Games Online
I recently found the world of Cozy Games and I’m loving it!
For reference, the last PC game I played religiously was Carmen Sandiego. I like the mystery and the hunt and I could easily unwind after school by just picking up some clues from characters around the world to find Carmen! I’ve been in search for something light hearted and fun ever since.
And now I have found a gaming community that lets me have fun and relax with a sense of child-like play instead of stressing me out with high stakes fighting.
Here’s a website where you can play in browser games as well as PC & MAC compatible games: Itch.io: Cozy Games.
I got hooked on the Idle Farming game (in browser game) for a few hours. I was lost in the game trying to sell all my crops and was using tactics recommended on the bottom of the page. Remember to automate your crop selling and increase your seeds before you buy more plots!
Here’s the CozyGamer Reddit community with plenty of game suggestions: CozyGamer.
Cottagecore Game: Behind the Frame
If you’re interested in more CottageCore type games you can download a demo of Behind the Frame. You can help an artist finish her masterpiece! Make yourself breakfast, cover canvases with paint and solve easy puzzles all the while piecing together a slow paced story.
You can check out the trailer for the game here! It will sort of feel like a Ghibli movie unfolding within the game!
3. Nature Walks, Mediterranean Food and Organic Wine
I celebrated my 31st Birthday during the Pandemic by myself in a new city and new state (new military move/installation) with just Turkish combo platter and a full bottle of Turkish organic wine (it was 40% off!).
I started off with a waterfall hike with a cup of coffee from my favorite cafe. And then ventured off to a small Olympic Peninsula waterfall hike. Then ended the day with the amazing meal I mentioned earlier!
I ate my meal on my Condo balcony (big fan of eating outside whenever i can) and then went instead to enjoy my baklava and the rest of Turkish wine while queuing up Equalizer 2 on the TV. Who doesn’t love Denzel.
4. Get some oil based coloring pencils out and follow-along Bob Ross like videos
Here’s a video you can follow along with regarding coloring in a Blue Jay! Just make sure you have the following:
PastelMat paper and use PanPastels for the background. Oil-based colored pencils are used to complete the drawing.
You can also watch a few gardening videos and start drawing your first herb garden plan! Get the colored pencils and a blank page beautiful embossed notebook (for the special feeling) and start coloring in the type of plants, herbs, flowers you want. And then do a layout as well!
I like this video on how to get start with drawing trees and bushes with colored pencils. Check it out below!
5. Chart out what Community adventures and Hidden gems you want to check out for the week
(includes antique browsing, food festivals, farmstands, new bookstores, recreation center classes etc).
Probably some of the best days I’ve had were exploring Washington state’s little coastal festivals or antique shops on rainy days. I also love a small independent bookstore. The collection is so intimate and curated by the bookstore owner. There’s more of a wonder and personal touch to it all!
Getting in touch with your community even if it is just experiencing events and places by yourself can be very refreshing and it’s own adventure! I would recommend Eventbrite and Facebook events for some awesome food festivals!
Bonus* Keep it simple and Read an Easy Adventure Book and Call it a Night!
Make some tea, get a fantasy book out (try to avoid self help, finance or political books at this time) and just get lost in another world!
I’m just getting back into fantasy and my current read is: The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer.
The Sea of Trolls is a Viking fantasy story that seems to have intrigue, wonder, humor and complex charming characters. Here’s a link and reviews to the book from ThriftBooks.com
